We started as a small pressing shop in the basement of the iconic Corner Room. Over the past 90 years, we’ve grown by leaps and bounds but one thing will never change; our commitment to our customers.

What's our story?

Our humble beginnings date back to 1927. We started as a family business – and we’ve kept it that way! The truth is that family-owned businesses can provide better service because we care more. We believe in treating people the way we’d want to be treated.

We're known for our orange trucks and our silly signs on the marquee. Many of our customers have been with us for decades and are multi-generational. It’s not uncommon to hear, “Growing up, I used to come in here with my dad!”

How do we do it?

We process thousands of garments every week. This wouldn’t be possible without two things – our dedication to doing things right and the dedication of our employees. We don’t cut corners when it comes to cleaning and pressing and we make sure every garment is treated like it is one of our own. If we anticipate an issue, we will call you to discuss any concerns. And each of our employees take tremendous pride in knowing that they are helping our customers look and feel great. Our goal is simple: get the best people, provide the best service.

It's a family affair

Balfurd has grown over the years and has been passed down from generation to generation keeping the same strong values over the years. We are currently operating in the 4th generation of ownership and we're proud of our commitment to the State College community, our customers and especially our employees. We hope to be around for another 4 generations!

Arthur Fogelsanger started it all off

Arthur Fogelsanger started it all off.� He began with a small dry cleaning location in downtown State College.

Scott Fogelsanger kept it going (and growing)

The late, great Scott Fogelsanger kept it going (and growing) by adding the food and beverage linen service division.

Bob Fogelsanger took the next step

Our owner, Bob Fogelsanger, took the next step and introduced healthcare linen service to the mix.

Monika & Dave Manter are on deck

Bob's daughter, Monika Manter, is a co-owner of Balfurd.�While Dave Manter, Monika's husband, is the President/CEO.�Their�focus is�on improving company culture and continuing the growth of Balfurd.
